Mushroom Hemp Necklaces by Psysub

For thousands of years, cultures have shown depictions of mushrooms in artwork for thousands of years, we still continue this tradition today. Some people might wonder why these necklaces are so desirable, and I have a couple of speculations. Other than the obvious shamanistic aspects of mushrooms, mushrooms have been known to have medicinal healing properties (such as Reishi and Maitake in Chinese Medicine), and the symbiotic nature of mushrooms with plants and animals have made them to be a symbol of balance in an eco-system. Other people enjoy their beauty in nature (as we especially do, living in Northern California in the raining season, little 'shrooms popping up everywhere!) And last, but certainly not least, lets not forget to appreciate the delicacy of cooking with mushrooms. Its hard not to appreciate them when they are so yummy!

Whatever your reason for wearing a mushroom hemp necklace, its sure to catch an eye. Isn't that why we wear jewelry? Because we want to be noticed. That's why when I first started designing my line of mushroom hemp necklaces years ago, I decided to put in a little diversity. The traditional designs usually used mostly natural hemp and little amounts of beads, if even any beads at all, and often plain beads at that. Sometimes the best pendants can be on such boring necklaces! We want the focus
to be about the entire piece, not just the pendant. Or else there is no art in making the necklace.

The pendant being the focal point however, makes us spend a lot of time finding the best, coolest, most unique and highest quality renditions of the fungus possible. Carved gemstone mushroom pendants made from Fluorite are available on a hemp necklace in our shop. We really enjoy the Celtic Fimo capped variety with a blown glass mushroom-within-a-mushroom stem, and the clear glass teardrop with the colorful mushroom inside. But our most famous is the "Trippy with Background" mushroom pendant, with a flat back and multi-colored mushroom and a psychedelic looking colorful background on the flat side.

Combined with our high quality romanian hemp, we sometimes use phat natural hemp or our own hand dyed bright colors in combinations.... but our favorite is of course to make them super psychedelic style with the tie dye and rainbow hemps.

Some of the beads we like to use on our Mushroom Hemp Necklaces are plain glass, but we mostly use handmade lampwork glass that matches the color and quality of the pendants. We often may also use gemstone and magnetic hematite beads and magnetic clasps. So much to choose from!

The funnest part for us is choosing the hemp knot styles. We use a lot of traditional hemp necklace knot style, but I have personally made some really unique knot styles to go with these necklaces. From long spirally ropes, lacey chokers, and intricate V necklaces, mushrooms can be incorporated into them all!
